VMI CLASS OF 1998

October 2-5, 2008  Lexington, Virginia
10 YEARS!  Whew...where does the time go?  We were just in Virginia for Matt's 10th VMI reunion.  It was a fantastic weekend!  We had the largest turnout of alumni in 10th reunion history AND raised the most money for VMI in 10th reunion history.

Friday morning the guys got together for the Ryan K Betton Charity Golf Tournament. That afternoon we went to the Friday Parade and ran into more of Matt's BRs that we hadn't seen in ages.  Later that night the whole class met up at the Lexington Country Club for a wonderful dinner where we did more catching up.
After a late Friday night, Saturday started off with a memorial service to honor our good friend Ryan Betton with a plaque in VMI's Memorial Gardens.  It was a very lovely service led by Chaplain Park who is a wonderful speaker.  Ryan's parents, brother, wife and fatherinlaw were all there also and it was really great to see them.
The class then gathered for a photo on the library steps.  That proved to be a challenge as more and more BRs arrived late for the photo but in the end most everyone jumped in (they even took a pic including spouses and kiddos!).  Then we watched the PreGame Parade.  Yvonne and Mike brought Jack up to VMI for the day so after the parade we had a great time reminising about Matt's days as a cadet and walking aroung post.
That day the VMI Keydets played the University of Richmond.  It was perfect fall football weather with bright sunshine, a light breeze and not too hot but unfortunately the weather was the only thing good about the game for VMI.  They suffered a terrible loss to the U of R Spiders.  Good try Keydets!  Later that afternoon we walked around downtown Lexington with Sabrina and Nick Devincenzo and Jimmy and Olivia Epps.  Jack went back to Chatham that afternoon with Grandma and Pa (Yvonne and Mike) and we went on to our final class party at McKethan Park.  We enjoyed BBQ and a live band (a really LOUD live band) and the company of great friends.
We can't wait to see everyone at the 15th!
NOTE:  Hopefully we'll have more pics to post when they are available from the reunion committee.
