Their main mission is rescuing exotic and domestic animals from people who are either mistreating or just don't want the animals anymore. Check out their website. http://www.austinzoo.org
Matt's dad, Larry, knows that we like to visit zoos in our travels and that Jack loves animals so part of our Christmas present was tickets to the zoo. The day we visited it was kinda chilly and windy and being Christmas Eve, there weren't many other visitors but we enjoyed seeing the animals and
riding the zoo train (despite the cold).

It was hard to take pictures of some of the animals because their habitats were surrounded by chain link but they were out relaxing or playing. The big lion had just gone into his house with a zoo helper but there was another one out playing. One of the tigers walked right up to greet us and have his picture taken.
The other was resting on a rock.
There were two cougars chillaxin' in their area
and a black panther hanging out in a tree in his area (I thought he was the coolest cat, unfortunately my picture of him didn't turn out). The roosters
were hilarious cuz they were not contained in a pen and seemed to be following us around. Then would occasionally let out a loud crow which Jack found super funny!

Thanks to Larry for our day at the zoo!
