American Air Day at the Imperial War Museum Duxford

Last Friday (22 Aug) we went down to Duxford to the Imperial War Museum for an American Air Day. They have about 4 or 5 hangers full of all sorts of planes dating back to the 2nd World War. One of the hangers is called the American Air Museum and "is a memorial to over 30,000 US airmen who gave their lives while flying from British bases including Duxford and the airfields of East Anglia, during the Second World War" (IWMD brochure). http://duxford.iwm.org.uk/ It was really interesting and the air show was great. Jack loved it! There was a helicopter and fighter jets from RAF Lakenheath and a KC-135 from the 100th Air Refueling Wing and C-130 Combat Talon from the Special Ops Group both out of RAF Mildenhall. There were several WWII planes that buzzed around and a team of little prop planes powered by VW engines! Jack met Sparky the USAF Fire Dog and got to sit in two, count 'em, TWO fire trucks! It was exciting. Matt and Jack in front of the F-86A Sabre Jack and I in front of the B-24 p-51 Mustang "The Terbulents" demo team. (400# prop powered by VW engine) On Saturday we did some normal running around/errand running BUT picked up some super-duper video editing software! This is great for numerous reasons as we have some projects we promised people that we need to finish and we can finally compile all the little snippets that we have from Jack's first and second years. Fun for everyone! :)
